A. Garvin, Esquire
Karin
A. Garvin maintains her law office in Pensacola, Florida where she
practices exclusively in the area of debtor representation in
bankruptcy. Born and
raised in Annapolis, Maryland, Ms. Garvin received her Bachelor of
Arts degree, summa cum laude
from West Virginia University in 1986 and followed with her Juris
Doctor degree in 1989 from the Washington and Lee University School
of Law.
Ms.
Garvin began her legal career by serving in the position of
Law Clerk to The Honorable E. Stephen Derby, United States
Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Maryland.
Thereafter she was associated with the Baltimore law firm of
Niles, Barton and Wilmer where she practiced in the areas of
creditor representation in bankruptcy, foreclosure and general
commercial law. After
marrying, Ms. Garvin used her marketing and sales skills in both the
medical equipment and the accounting and finance staffing arenas as
she and her husband moved from the east coast to the west coast
while her husband served as a Navy Pilot.
After moving to the Pensacola area in 1996, Ms. Garvin passed
the Florida Bar Examination in April 1997 and was associated with a
Milton, Florida law firm for four years where she practiced
bankruptcy, family law, probate and general civil litigation.
Subsequently, Ms. Garvin was associated with a regional
bankruptcy law firm for two years where her practice was focused on
debtor representation in bankruptcy.
Ms.
Garvin is admitted to practice in Florida, Maryland, The District of
Columbia, The United States District Court for the District of
Maryland, The United States District Court for the Northern District
of Florida, and The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth
Circuit. Additionally,
she enjoys active memberships in the Escambia/Santa Rosa Bar
Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Bankruptcy
Bar Association for the Northern District of Florida..
Considering
it important to participate in her community, Ms. Garvin is a tutor
and Vice President of the Board of Directors of Learn to Read of
Northwest Florida, Inc., a non profit organization that trains
adults to teach other adults who need assistance with their reading
and writing skills.
